Gravelles Support Leonard Cheshire
Its been a very busy few months and I (Dr Robert Gravelle) have been busy promoting not only my business but the needs of the disabled community, increasing our profile and helping large organisations in their similar goals of inclusion for all.
One Such national organisation that I have become involved in is Leonard Cheshire Disability, one of the UK's largest charities, its aim being to change attitudes to disability and serving disabled people in various ways.
At the start of my business I am pleased to say that I was assisted by Leonard Cheshire Disability, through one of their programs.
Since then not only do we work with Leonard Cheshire Homes, but I have also been invited to help on a Leonard Cheshire project held in association with Barclays bank the ‘Ready to Start’ project. ‘Ready to Start’ is an initiative aimed at encouraging and providing support for disabled people to start their own business, often helping them attain their potential and helping them of the benefits system.
As a disabled business person I have been asked to speak at various high profile gatherings, relaying my experiences, both positive and negative, about setting up and running my business, including the ‘Ready to Start’ launch, held at the Wales Millennium Centre.
Further more since then I have been asked to be a volunteer mentor/coach on the ‘Ready to Start’, project, helping their clients wishing to embark on their own business. A position I believe of great responsibility.
I must say that it is nice to be able to give back to an organisation which I respect and have helped me in the past. It is rare in life that we get an opportunity to truly help and advise others.
I must say that the ‘Ready to Start programme’ is a fantastic idea. I would strongly encourage any would be disabled entrepreneur to enrolee on the program and tap into the network available.
